  • The 'Last' In Life

Through out life we look forward to the 'firsts' in life. First Day of High School, First Date, First Dance, First Car, First House, First Job, etc. But I was thinking...what happens to the lasts in life. Think with me for a second.. a mother anxiously awaits for the first word her child speaks, will always remember her child's first steps, first time they say 'I love you' or give a hug or kiss...remembers the first night the child crawls in bed with her from fear of a storm...all of these firsts.  One 'first' comes and the next is looked forward to. But what I wonder is in all the excitement in looking forward to the next new experience are things over looked? What about the lasts.....What happens to the last times her child does these actions...when the child suddenly becomes to old for these or embarrassed in front of friends to hug or kiss their mother?                                                                   With the recent move I caught myself remembering the firsts of my life as well as some of my lasts. I think about when my brother and I would sneak into each others rooms at night and talk for hours about what we wanted to do in our futures and wonder when was the last? When Calls with any of my brothers would always end in ' I love you' and wonder how long it's been since we even called each other. Or the first Drama I did in Kids Church at Victory...how nervous and proud I was and then doing my last just a few weeks ago. I think of annual events I have taken part in the past and how these last ones I've taken for granted not knowing they would be my last. My Beautiful home...I think of when I first moved in and how excited I was...thinking I or at least my parents would live here forever and imagining bringing my own children here in the future and watching them fish with my Dad. Being at a church for so long....imagining my wedding there and then watching that chapter of my life close... I am about to begin on a whole new chapter of FIRSTS in my life..but at the same time I want to savor my lasts. Ten years from now this move will not seem as crazy or sad that it does at this very moment but for the time being these are my thoughts...and my ramblings....

    TIME

    Current mood: happy

Ever since I was little I've always heard  the expression "Time flys when you're having fun" so when I would spend time with friends I used to try and trick time by pretending not to have fun but it didn't work then and still doesn't work now. Summertime  is flying by but I'm actually looking forward to going back to school because it goes fast too. It's crazy how when you're a three years old and your birthday is a month away it feels like forever because it's 1/36 of your WHOLE life but as you get older that month changes to be a smaller and smaller percent of your WHOLE life. Right now in my life a month feels like a week!!! My parents continue to talk about me "driving" and "getting a car" and I find myself on search engines looking up scholarships and adding up the price of collage. All my life EVERYONE older than me has told me to "enjoy your childhood" and I would try to smile at them but inside I was saying "whatever" but now I'm thinking.....maybe they were right. So I look back and ask myself what I would change and I'm thinking that all the things in my past brought me where I am now and in almost every area I am satisfied except for spiritually because in that area I will never be satisfied and would be a fool to be so.So everyone live for today because if you don't you can not get to the dreams of tomorrow. Why? Because it takes preperation TODAY to get there.

    LOVE YA

    ~SARA~
